You came out of nowhere
To where we all sat
Cozy at our table.
Comfortable.
You didn't even ask
(Not that I heard from my seat)
But just plopped yourself down.
I was afraid
That as everyone made room
For you
They would forget I was there,
(Had been there for years)
And nudge me out.
Fine.
You can have my seat.
Anyway,
You fit in better with this group than I do.
Seriously.
I'll go.
But I can't leave.
I don't want to.
I love these people.
They love you,
And so shall I.
At least I'll try.
A funny thing happened as I stayed
In my seat
While we all made room for you:
We had to get closer
For us all to fit.
Now
It's even cozier here.
